Philosophy & Principles
In accordance with Vedic tradition, The Vedantic Center appreciates the contributions of spiritual wisdom and insight from all faiths. Studies at the ashram include not only Vedic scriptures, but also exemplary narratives and scriptural texts from more recent revelations of God.
The Vedas have a universal outlook embracing all that is noble and sacred. There is a principle of equality in respecting all that proclaims the concept of Oneness. Man is taught to face joy and sorrow with equal serenity.
The Vedas also teach that the purpose of human birth is to make spiritual advancement to the highest perfectional stage of life which is devotional service rendered unto the Supreme Lord. Charity, kindness, selfless service, spiritual discipline and a dedicated life of devotion can bring one toward the supreme goal of life and attainment of divine realization.
Today the students of Alice Coltrane Swamini Turiyasangitananda endeavor to go forward following the wisdom teachings as given over 30 years and to share with the greater global community through Selfless Love and Selfless Service. Visitors and retreatants are encouraged to participate in selfless service (seva and karma yoga) which can enrich their experience and help the ongoing efforts at the Center. The Vedantic Center appreciates charitable giving which goes toward building maintenance and land beautification and ongoing programs to support service to the community.
